Who we are
Arche Noah Teneriffa e.V. is a non-profit animal welfare association that has been helping dogs and cats in need in Tenerife since 1992. Our Arche was founded by Ute and Elmar Lobüscher to create a safe haven on the island for abandoned, stray, sick and vulnerable animals.
For more than 30 years, we have rescued, cared for and rehomed animals that would otherwise have little chance of a better life. Many dogs and cats find loving homes in Germany or elsewhere in Europe through our organisation. Others stay with us permanently because they are old, ill, very shy or cannot be rehomed for other reasons. For them, our animal shelter and sanctuary is a safe place where they can live for the rest of their natural lives.
Our association is registered in the register of associations at Amtsgericht Darmstadt under registration number VR 20680 and is recognised by Finanzamt Bensheim as a non-profit organisation and particularly worthy of support. We are also a member of the Deutscher Tierschutzbund (German Animal Welfare Federation).
Our goals are practical and sustainable animal welfare in Tenerife. In particular, these include:
- promoting awareness of animal welfare in Tenerife
- improving the living conditions of dogs and cats
- maintaining our animal shelter and sanctuary
- rescuing abandoned and stray animals
- providing the best possible care for the animals in our care
- carefully finding loving homes that meet the animals’ needs
- spaying and neutering to reduce uncontrolled reproduction
- raising awareness of animal welfare issues in Tenerife
Over the past 34 years, we have been able to rescue and care for many thousands of animals and help them towards a better future. Our Arche stands for reliable animal welfare, careful rehoming and a safe place for animals that have no one else.
To continue this work, we depend on people who support us through donations, sponsorships, memberships, flight sponsorships or voluntary help.
