Volunteering at the Animal Shelter - Arche Noah Teneriffa e.V.

Volunteers needed for Our Animal Shelter in Tenerife

We are looking for volunteers aged 25 and over who would like to support our team at the shelter in Tenerife with the daily care of our dogs and cats. We are also happy to receive support with photography and filming.

For volunteering on site, we require a minimum stay of 8 weeks. During this time, our volunteers can stay free of charge in the shelter’s finca. As some of the rooms are also shared with dogs and cats, volunteers should not have allergies to animal hair.

Volunteer Placements in 2026 and 2027

All volunteer placements for 2026 have already been filled. For 2027, places will not be available again until May at the earliest.

From 2027 onwards, we will increasingly work with young people as part of the International Youth Volunteer Service (IJFD). The placements, which generally last twelve months, enable us to have long-term and reliable support at the animal shelter and help to sustainably strengthen our team structure.

For this reason, there will be fewer places available for regular volunteers in the future. As we receive a large number of enquiries every year, we need to pay closer attention during the selection process to which applications best match our current capacities and the needs of our team.

We ask for your understanding that, unfortunately, we cannot offer a place to everyone who is interested.

If you would like to support our shelter on site and are available from May 2027 onwards, please complete the application form. We will then check the available places and get back to you as soon as possible.

International Youth Volunteer Service (IJFD)

The International Youth Volunteer Service (IJFD) is a government-funded volunteer programme for young people aged 18 and over. The placement generally lasts 12 months and includes educational support. Together with our partner VIA e.V. (https://www.via-ev.org), we offer you the opportunity to volunteer in animal welfare in Tenerife. You can find more information on the VIA e.V. website.
