Animal Shelter and Sanctuary

Our animal shelter and sanctuary is located in the south of Tenerife, near San Isidro. Here, we have a secure 12,000 m² property with buildings, enclosures, and gardens, also serving as a sanctuary for animals that cannot be rehomed. Some of our staff and volunteers live on-site in the finca, the main building, alongside the cats and dogs.

For 32 years, we have been dedicated to helping dogs and cats in need on the Canary Island of Tenerife. During this time, we have cared for, housed, and rehomed thousands of animals, giving them a chance at a better future.

Our shelter has grown significantly over the years, and we can no longer operate without sufficient and regular monthly funding. Every bit of support is a huge help to us and our work.

We are always happy to welcome visitors who would like to meet our animals and see our work firsthand.

Our Facilities

The Arche Noah Finca

The finca is a large house with five rooms, one kitchen, and one bathroom. It serves as the center of our shelter and is home to several staff members, volunteers, many cats, and a few dogs. The finca also features a spacious terrace and a free-run garden for the animals.

Next to the finca is an annex with two rooms, one kitchen, and one bathroom. This space is used for long-term helpers and to care for emergency cases or sick animals needing extra attention.

Cats

To make our feline residents as comfortable as possible, we’ve set up several dedicated areas for them:

Main Cat House: This large house includes three rooms with tiled outdoor enclosures, three large free-run gardens, and a special cat suite in Garden 3. Both adoptable cats and sanctuary residents live here.

Cat Wooden House: Built to accommodate the growing number of cats we care for over the years, this house also includes a large free-run garden where the cats can play and relax. Staff and volunteers also reside here.

Small Quarantine House: A tiny house with a free-run garden for new arrivals or sick cats.

Additional Wooden House: Another small wooden house for our feline residents.

Dogs

Our dogs are housed in specially designed areas that provide safety and space to play:

Dog House: Equipped with nine tiled indoor and outdoor kennels, a small bathroom, storage space, and ten fenced free-run areas.

Puppy Enclosure: Includes seven tiled indoor and outdoor kennels, five free-run areas, two washrooms, one laundry room, and a tool shed.

In addition to these facilities, we also have a quarantine and medical care station, as well as storage for our transport crates.
