Adopting a Cat

We also care for many cats seeking a cozy, lifelong home. Often, they are left in boxes at our doorstep, found in roadside ditches, or brought to us by concerned individuals. Each of these furry friends is a little treasure, eagerly wishing to join a loving family of caretakers.

Cat Adoption Process

Our cats are adopted fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and accompanied by a valid EU pet passport. Each cat is also tested for common Mediterranean diseases beforehand and treated if necessary.

If you’re interested in adopting, please complete the adoption form (German). In the free text field, you can provide initial information about your living and working situation. We’ll get in touch with you as soon as possible to address any questions. You’re also welcome to contact us by phone at 06251-66117.

Next, we’ll arrange to meet you in person. For every animal, we conduct a “home check” beforehand, where we visit your home to get a sense of you and your environment. This step is crucial to ensure compatibility between you and your potential new pet. If this visit is positively evaluated by both sides, you’ll receive confirmation of the adoption.

Many of our cats are currently at our foster facility in Bensheim and can be met there by appointment. Take the opportunity to see our adorable cats playing and cuddling, which will help you determine if there’s a connection. If your desired cat is still at the shelter in Tenerife, you’ll meet them for the first time at the airport in Germany. Information about the cat’s current location is always listed under their name.

Unfortunately, we cannot facilitate adoptions nationwide due to limited support from partner shelters and foster homes. However, if you’re interested in one of our cats, please don’t hesitate to contact us—we might still find a way to bring you together.

The adoption donation for a cat is €120.00. You will receive a donation receipt for this amount, which can be submitted to your tax office. Receipts are automatically sent at the beginning of each year.

Important Information for Future Cat Owners

When your new feline companion arrives, help them settle in by taking a few days off to spend time with them.

At our shelter in Tenerife, we’ve often cared for your cat for many months, providing them with love, attention, and sometimes nursing them back to health. These animals are very dear to us, and we want them to join households where they are fully integrated and actively included in their owners’ lives. Ideally, they shouldn’t be left alone for more than 5–6 hours. They are living beings with needs such as regular physical activity, mental stimulation, and companionship, both human and animal. Please carefully consider whether you can meet these needs.

If you can, we look forward to hearing from you!
