Association

Who we are

Our organization has been dedicated to helping animals in need on the Canary Island of Tenerife since its founding in 1992. To provide targeted support, Ute and Elmar Lobüscher established the association Arche Noah Teneriffa e.V. in 1992 and began constructing the animal shelter—a safe haven for the many animals in distress, a true “Noah’s Ark.” Many dogs and cats find refuge and a home here.

Arche Noah Teneriffa is registered with the Darmstadt District Court under the registration number VR 20680 and is recognized as a non-profit and particularly worthy of support by the Bensheim Tax Office.

The association is dedicated exclusively to charitable purposes. The primary goals of the association are:

  • Advocating for and promoting animal welfare on Tenerife, particularly improving the living conditions of animals.
  • Maintaining and preserving our animal shelter and sanctuary.
  • Preventing animal cruelty, abuse, and mistreatment.
  • Raising awareness about animal welfare issues on Tenerife.
  • Providing the best possible care and attention to the animals in our custody (stray and rescued animals) and placing them in loving, species-appropriate homes.
  • Performing spaying and neutering procedures to control overpopulation.
  • Rescuing abandoned animals.
  • Educating locals and tourists about the prevailing issues in the region.

We have rescued thousands of animals over the past 31 years!

We cared for, nurtured, and rehabilitated them until we could give them a chance at a better future and a happier life. Over time, we have also grown into a sanctuary and now host many permanent residents. These animals, due to their age, illness, or shyness, cannot be flown to Germany for adoption. Instead, they find a forever home at our shelter, where they are cared for until the end of their natural lives.

Our organization is recognized as particularly worthy of support and is a proud member of the Deutscher Tierschutzbund (German Animal Welfare Federation).
